About Strex
Strex is owned by the major Norwegian mobile operators, Telenor and TeliaSonera and provides mobile payment solutions for anyone with a mobile subscription registered in Norway.
The operators have been offering a solution for payment via text message or SMS, since 1999. In 2012 they constituted the company mPayment, which has now evolved into Strex.
Strex currently handle more than 75.000.000 SMS transactions per year, plus an increasing number of payments via Internet and apps. Many of you will have used Strex already without being aware of the service, for example when paying for parking via text message, buying a digital services using your phone number or voting for your favourite performer on a TV show.
The Norwegian Department of Finance sets out a number of requirements for companies that handle monetary transactions. These are requirements related to security and convenience to users, clients and resellers.
Strex employs 10 and is located at Skøyen in Oslo.
